Uploading a new metric to a case
How to Upload a New Biodiversity Metric to an Existing Case in Mycelia
Uploading a new biodiversity metric to an existing case in Mycelia ensures that all project data remains centralised, up-to-date, and auditable. This process supports streamlined validation, decision-making, and compliance with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements.
In this video, you will learn how to upload a new metric.

## Uploading a New Biodiversity Metric to an Existing Case in Mycelia
Keeping biodiversity metrics current and consolidated within each case is essential for reliable validation, compliance, and reporting. Mycelia makes it straightforward to update case records as new or revised biodiversity metrics are submitted throughout a project’s lifecycle.
### When to Upload a New Metric
In Mycelia, you should upload a new metric file in scenarios such as:
- **Applicant Resubmission:**
An applicant provides an updated metric following feedback regarding validation issues or errors in their initial submission.
- **Change in Proposed Interventions:**
The original metric included interventions that later prove unfeasible, and these are replaced or supplemented (for example, shifting from on-site to off-site interventions).
- **Discharge of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Condition:**
An applicant submits an updated metric, such as moving from a baseline-only version to one that includes post-development habitat details, as part of applying to discharge the BNG requirement.

### How to Upload a New Metric
1. **Access the Case**
Go to the relevant case in Mycelia where you need to add the new metric.
2. **Obtain the Correct File**
Ensure you have the updated biodiversity metric file ready for upload. This is typically provided by the applicant in response to project feedback or milestone requirements.
3. **Upload the Metric**
- Locate the metric upload area within the case record.
- Select **Upload Metric** (or equivalent action).
- Attach and submit the new file.
4. **Confirm Upload and Assignment**
- Verify that the new metric appears within the case file.
- Mycelia automatically designates the newly uploaded metric as the “current case metric”.
- Any previous validation flags connected to the old metric should be cleared if the new file meets Mycelia’s requirements.
5. **Revert if Necessary**
- If you need to revert to a previous version, use the available **Revert** option next to the older metric.
- All versions remain securely stored to ensure transparency and a complete audit trail.

### Additional Information
- Every metric version—past and present—is retained within the case for regulatory compliance and ease of reference.
- Centralising metric updates enables planning, ecology, and audit teams to access an authoritative single source of truth for each biodiversity project.
